coupning in india


While going through a magazine i came to know about Rohit Bhal one of the pioneers of coupning business in india , being a mba student i really felt interested in knowing more about coupning business. frankly telling i never heard this concept in my mba studies also , so i browsed net to know more about it and to my surprise i found altough today it has been a sucessful business model in india but it could really have been a great disaster if it would not have been supported by retail chains.

Given the nature of coupons is to try and build interest and entice customers to the business offering .A real good marketing tool . A coupon is a ticket or a business card that can be exchanged for any discount when purchasing something.Customarily, coupons are issued by the manufacturer or the marketing firms , for retailers a part of sales promotion.. They are often widely distributed through mail, magazine, daily newspaper and internet.. Since only price conscious consumers are likely to spend the time to claim the savings.

 i remember years ago surf promaoted surf excel through coupons , it was written on the pack to collect certain numbers and on that their were ceratin gifts , i remember i was so excited to collect those coupons and i collected them with full enthusiasm and i got a dictionary , the happiness related with that really made me a brand loyal customer of surf till date.

these days also when i recharge my mobile with free recharge they give me free coupons of pizzas in pizza hut , and thats the bushiness strategy for new india, growing india, pizza hut and dominos in almost every city.

all this really make me feel india is banking upon so much from the the west from the product to the concept.
